Don't Jews have big noses?

I was watching this movie with "friends". Within the first five minutes or so, someone asks "what nationality or they?". I say "Israeli". Then another says "are they speaking Arabic?" to which I say, "no, that is Hebrew." To which they say "isn't Hebrew jewish?" I say "that is correct".

Here's the real kicker

The person says "How can they be jewish? They don't look jewish and don't have big noses"

It amazes me how dumb people can be. How does one "look" jewish. The jews have had such a long history and spread so far that you can't pinpoint a "jewish" look.

That's why the movie has ordinary white european looking characters to dark skinned Mediterranean looking types to middle eastern looking types. My point is, jews come in all shapes and sizes, it's not really realistic to say "that person looks jewish".

It's such a lame misconception that unfortunately people still carry today.

Because one or two jewish people have a big nose, and that is all the public is exposed to, they automatically assume thats what they all look like.

That's like saying George Lopez has a big head so therefore all mexicans have a big head.

It doesn't matter where their from, all people have dumb misconceptions. Back in Russia people would joke that jews have horns, but really most people couldn't even tell the difference between someone who was jewish or non jewish. And most of them have never even seen a jew. We had jewish twins in our class and people were seriously in disbelief when they found out they were jewish.

I live in california now, these friends of mine are mostly mexican.

People crack me up with their misconceptions. I have been to Israel and have have Jewish friend in the mix. Not many have big noses.;)I almost think Israel is like the US we have such a mix of people you can't really classify how we look at this point. Let's just say they look human like the rest of us.;)
