Boring as hell...

I was greatly disappointed by the movie. I'd like to see more films made about the IDF, but this was just as boring as watching paint dry. Why not make it about the battle for the fortress?

It's movies like this that make me realize how ridiculous the Academy Awards are. It is for the abstract art types. People that want to feel all intelligent for watching and liking crap like this. The acting and cinematography was very professional, but the story was just plain bland.

Milo Ventimiglia is the worst actor in the history of television. And condoms feel terrible.

Exactly why it isnt a Hollywood movie. Perhaps you expected lotsa action and explosions like a typical hollywood movie would be. However thats not what this movie is about. If you have served in an army (I did in the IDF) then you know a state of war isnt like hollywood often depicts. Its often alot of boredom especially when on watch. This movie depicts the real realities, its more about the human and individul character and how he reacts to this given situation that he has little control of. Whilst I may agree that it was somewhat boring from an "entertainment" aspect, it was a reflection of reality which is far from a "Rambo" style movie.

Well, one doesn't expect to be put to sleep. The film wouldn't have lost much if it had ended after the bomb disposal guy got blown up.

Neither gripping or compelling. Instantly forgettable.

The 2008 Oscar nominees for film in a foreign language must have been among the poorest selection for many years. I haven't seen 12 yet but this, Katyn & The Counterfeiters are no better than fair. Only Mongol is a genuinely good film. Katyn should have worked. It was directed by Wajda and based on a true story but it did not grab me at all.

reply

Exactly. Note Jarhead. Same thing. Anyone that fell asleep during Beaufort is pretty dense, if you ask me.

reply

Not for me... this movie captivated me the entire time. Loved it. "9"

(Spoilers) It did put me to sleep. I roused to hear that Liberti had to hold on to the fort with only twelve men, which he thinks is suicide. Good, I thought, now we'll finally see some good old-fashioned war action. But no, they get out without Hezbollah at all aware of the evacuation, and blow it up. Yep, it was boring.

reply

It started off OK, but it just dragged on. Push them into the sea!
