Some Pathetic Dialogues in the Movie

Went to theater after some people told in this forum that this movie is classical. Came out in just 20 minutes. All those great souls who went to the theater please list down all the pathetic dialogues in the movie.

o Jab bhi dhanda accha hota hai..yaha aakar aksar angrezi sharab peeti hoon - Rani Mukherjee

o Yeh mera ball hai - Ranbir Kapoor

o I likesss you - Rani Mukherjee

o Yeh aurte bhi kisi ki maa, kisi ki beti aur kisi ki behen lagti hai naa -> Ranbir Kapoor
(heights of patheticism, girls dont get me wrong, i respect you but this was darn pathetic in the movie)

o Baap ka naam. Kya sharab pee kar juae mein haar gaya - Zohra Sehgal

o Jee mere pass ek reference hai agar aapko theek lage || kaun ??? || aap. (after this I walked out)

o This scene was really pathetic when Rani Mukherjee says "Rooh jo kabhi dikhti nahi"

Thiiiiisssshhh (machis ki tilli jalate hue Ranbeer Kapoor) : Ji bilkul is tilli ki tareh, jismein aag to hai but bina jalaye dikhti nahi"

What kind of movie was this ? This kind of movie is good when scene is composed live in a theater but not in a movie hall.

To each their own! Try OSO, it might suit you better.

reply

OSO is a bit better but not good enough. I wonder that you compare Saawariya only with OSO.

reply

I said OSO only because they are the only two big films showing at the moment.
Plus people seem to have bigged up OSO because they feel Saawariya is bad. But in my opinion Saawariya's director should be applauded for attempting to make a "different" film - a very different film from the ones which Asian people are used to seeing. A tick therefore in the box for "trying".
OSO on the other hand is a cop-out. In presenting it as a farce they have actually made a film that is all things bad about bollywood. It is the film equivalent of the saying "a Jack of all trades and a master of none". It is an unashamed attempt to cash in as much as possible.
If film-making is just about box-office collections then with this one they hit the bulls-eye. Personally I feel a certain lack of content integrity and motive about this film - but that is only my opinion and of course it is in the minority.

A different film ?

I would say..a different kind of pathetic movie. Perhaps you havent been to a theater. Director basically wanted to show a drama played in a theater (rangmanch) as a movie. If you get a chance to attend the play "Bikhre Bimb" by Girish Karnad, do attend that. After that comment on the movie "Saawariya". Here is the link:

'Saawariya' is to 'Bikhre Bimb' is like 'Krissh' is to 'Star Wars'. I hope you got the difference.

As a thumb rule...do not accept any thing which is below your expectations.

I didn't think it was that 'different', but then again I've seen Moulin Rouge (which is also about a naive young man in love and has a similar look).

I loved Om Shanti Om. I think it's a wonderful homage to 'Bollywood' then and now.

Basically to sum up Om-Shanti-Om and Saawariya:

One movie advises not to take it too seriously,
Whereas
The other movie is taking ITSELF far toooooo seriously!!!

JAB WE MET is the most outstanding movie of this year, and maybe of all times.
Saawariya and OSO dont even close to touching it in any department.

It was a pathetic movie. And pathetic dialogues were just one of the reasons. If they re calling it a musical, they must first understand what that means! Songs are supposed to woven into the story-telling. Here, there are more than a dozen songs, appearing without rhyme and reason. The story is meant to make you sympathise with the jilted lover, but you end up saying good-riddance to him. Ranbir is irksome to say the least. Sonam Kapoor has clearly not inherited her father's acting genes - her strained and fake laughter at places make you want to pinch yourself to ensure its not a bad nightmare. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is competing with Ram Gopal Verma to hit the rock-bottom first.

Watch it at your own risk!

Haven't seen the movie yet (looking forward to it), but the soundtrack is definitely mediocre. I thought that Ismail Darbar (Devdas, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam) composed it, but when I got the soundtrack, all the songs were by some guy named "Monty".
