Sony had a 20 crore budget to promote Saawariya and the promos were everywhere, and on every web site. But overseas Saawairya has taken a hyuge beating.
In the US it made $600,000 to OSO's >$1,400,000 and in UK OSO is firmly in top 10 while Saawariya is no where.
I think Sony miscalculated on how best to enter the Indian market. This is not a Diwali film and may have done a bit better at another time. And there are other vehicles that could have done much better as Sony's launch film. Bhansali's films are not huge box office successes (except Devdas) and it is not lack of publicity that keeps people away.
