Excellent film!

If "Steel Toes" screens at a festival near you, go see it! It's one of the best films I've seen in some time; one of those rare indie gems that comes along only once in awhile. Beautifully performed, directed, written, etc.

I saw it two months ago at the Woodstock Film Festival and still think about it, it was that fantastic.

I've read all this and I still can't find out what it is about.

Is it a secret?

Me either! With the huge glut of new films now available on every subject from every country in the world, remake after remake after remake, and since this movie (like hundreds of thousands other eminently forgettable films (both DVD and Divx/Xvid) being so freely available for download; I'm not about to pay to see it at a theatre, nor put it in my Netflix cue.

No genuine information, but obviously plenty of flacking by the film's publicist.

Besides it sounds like yet another ultra pc lesson filled "Why can't we all get along and ignore culturally, racial, sexual and religious differences" film.

Who needs it!

** spoiler (probably not but just in case) **

lol Yeah, the movie was irritatingly superficial. Well-intentioned but not well-executed. And I thought Andrew W. Walker's performance was weak especially when his character was going crazy (or whatever) in the prison cell. He was doing great in the first 30 minutes or so before that though. The movie lost the momentum if it had any quite early for me. Not necessarily because of the acting but of the script.

the movie is now Available to watch instantly on netflix, I'm trying to decide if it's worth it and I came here and there's barely any post, I think i'll skip it.

My girlfriend rented it. I wasn't too impressed. I gave it 5/10, and I may have been a bit generous.

"The only decent movie about Skins is still Romper Stomper and even that could have been better."

Dude, American History X is the best racism movie I've ever seen. I've got Romper Stomper, but haven't had a chance to watch it yet. Maybe I will soon.

As far as blaming Hollywood and New York for the fact that movies about racism exist... well, I guess that's your opinion. I don't think you're racist because of it, but I think you may be jumping to conclusions.

No, I understood your point. I just didn't address everything you said.

You think that movies are from a Jewish/liberal point of view, but actually, that's a common point of view that's not limited to Jews or liberals.

I thought AHX was fantastic. I also agree the dinner speech was great--maybe the best scene in the movie. So he saw the error of his ways... can you honestly attribute that to Jews? lol Or even liberals? To think that is just silly. You know, some people DO actually come to their sense after making bad decisions. So they decided to tie up the story that way. Is that really such a bad thing?

As for him being "obviously right", I'm not sure what you as a "racial realist" thinks is right. To me, he is most obviously wrong, and Derek must see that he's wrong, based on how his life has turned out. So he does what an intelligent person would do (and it is established that he's intelligent.)
