Good job

Just watched the movie and I liked it. I heard that this is based on true event. There's a really sad scene where the young female hostage tries to save this young convict by holding a knife yielding hand of the convict up to her own neck. I watched that scene twice. I had to. This young girl's acting's believable and actually made me cry. Was home alone. So, no one saw me crying.

Hahaha wow, it seems like we've got a similar taste in korean films. I loved this movie and that scene too. Every single person does some awesome acting in this film... in my opinion. Except the villain. Were you annoyed by him too? Another kind of exaggerated acting.

That bad guy's character didn't seem to grasp the situation fully most of the time. The actor reminds me of the bad guy in one of the kids' shows. I can't remember the name of the bad guy in that children's show but it is about the good guy named Sportacus or something. I don't know if I was annoyed by the power hungry police guy yet, but his actions have no backing reasons. I wonder about that though since they say it's a true story. Is Korea still like that? Trying to hide a little blemish from the eye of foreigners? Guess they didn't see our homeless people and the druggies on the streets of Vancouver then.

Heh, he's a really famous guy in Korea... known as one of Korean TV's biggest tough guys since the past decade. I guess he was trying to show some versatility in his acting but it felt a little odd. Oh, but his character in "Holiday" was fictional.
I don't really know what's going on in Korea but it's probably really different from back then. Back then the government kicked peoples' butts but nowadays it seems as if the people are kicking the government's ass. Hmm.. but korean tv does seem to hide the countless number of homeless and drunk people out in the streets. Haha

Good to know that the bad guy is fictional, otherwise, Korean justice system is doomed!

Sho, how do you know so well about those Korean actors? What's the name of the guy who played the main character that dies at the end in the girls' bedroom next to the bunk bed? My mom's new fav. Korean actor. I'm sure she's just worshiping a six-pack. Ha!
Anyway, I found his acting style very interesting. He's subdued, calm and quiet.
I still insist that the actors who played the hostages are the best. Especially the younger sister. I was just mesmerized by her acting while watching the movie.

Got a spinal tap yesterday and I now understand how the maple trees feel.

Heh, even without that fictional bad guy, the Korean government seems to be doomed anyway.

Lol... despite being born in a U.S. Territory island down in the pacific (literally in the middle of nowhere) and living a rather islandy life, apparently I'm a Korean, speaking Korean at home and watching Korean tv most of the time (although I barely watch tv). Every now and then they say stuff about all these actors and so I get to know a lot. But that bad guy from 'Holiday' is like...rrrrrreally famous. Ever since his 1995 drama show "Sandglass" which everyone apparently seems to love.

Anyway, the main guy from 'Holiday' is Lee Sung-jae. He's been acting for a long time, but he's been giving really good performances nowadays, but he proved that sometimes that's bad, because he was in a movie called "Public Enemy" in 2002; he played as this psychotically weird villain and did a hell of a good job, and he wasn't in any movie after that for almost 4 years. But man, I really want his abs. hahaha

Oh, did you know that the girl who played as the younger one of the hostages is also in 'Running Wild'? She plays as the villain's daughter.. but her role is really small there. But yes.. her acting was super good in 'Holiday'. Hopefully she'll grow up to be even better!

You mean the Hourglass (morae sigae).

Lee Sung Jae's other notable movies are: Kick the Moon (Shinlaui dalbam), Barking Dogs Never Bite (Flandersui gae).

Was Hourglass shot at Jeongdongjin?

reply

Watch out for Lee Sung Jae in 'Daisy' of Andrew Lau. I saw it, too. He was so good there
