Alex's clothes

Is it just me or is she being dressed like a pin-up girl from the 50s? Sometimes her outfits remind me of Jayne Mansfield, Marilyn Monroe, etc.

Very odd for a DS to be dressing like that. Doesn't give a professional image at all.

Earlier this year, while I was in London, I talked to a couple of DS' and asked them about her clothing - they both laughed, said her dress would be considered very inappropriate and she would be spoken to and then reprimanded regarding the image she sets.

Well, yes, you're quite right. It's highly unlikely that *most* people would be able to get away with such specifically styled clothes on a day to day basis, much less a working police officer.

However, bear in mind that MAYO is a *fantasy* and bears even less relationship to normal police work than even any of the other nominally realistic tv depictions.

I still think MAYO was one of the most charming and entertaining things I've seen for years, and I regularly check this site just in case someone has news of a DVD release. A second series is obviously a no-show as it apparently didn't please enough of the mass audience. If only they'd cast Ross Kemp as Mayo...no, honestly please not !
