Final Episode - Anti Cinematic?

While the fact I was expecting Rick to have a full blown epiphany was probably expecting a bit too much (it is Rick after all) was anyone else disapointed at how this otherwise good three-parter Season Finale ended? We have the whole storyline of Rick being a hostage in prison, and finally explain why he has to lie all the time (the explaination could have been another lie, but given the circumstance I think Rick was telling the truth there). I didn't really expect Rick to have a sudden 180 change (as indeed once he's escaped he's back to lying again, about how he overpowered his captor, when of course he didn't), but I thought that as it is THE Final Episode, and they actually showed Rick admit why he lies, and actually force him to take a look at the fact he always lies, that there was going to be a kind of semi revelation at the end about Rick realizing at last that lying just doesn't get him anywhere.

I understand that if we are to believe that Rick is capable of changing, it would be too much to expect him to perfectly change instantly, but at least imply he's on the way, like during or after the speech were he admits everything (mostly out of fear, I grant you, but even that should be enough of a reason for the writing to allow him to stop and think about his lying, like how he's almost got himself killed by lying about something that had already caused him to think about his lying) even if they had ended it with him announcing to his friends/family that he's going to be more honest, and then promptly lying about something minor suggesting he hasn't quite changed yet, would have been enough.

Instead, we have this side storyline with Clive, which while in keeping with Lead Balloon, should have really only been a side storyline, and instead it ends up being the thing that ends the series? I get that once again Rick's selfishness has escalated into something much more damaging to him than it should have done. I get that if Rick hadn't been petty and allowed Clive to build a ramp, Clive would never have caused him to lash out at him, and inadvertently hit his disabled mother, and blacken his name in the papers (perhaps forever?) I get all of that, and it works as a joke for a normal episode, but as the Grand Finale? It just doesn't seem like an ending to me, but rather just another episode.

So is this the final ever episode then?

I think so - It's called "End" so that seems like they intend it to be the last one.

I agree, the end was very abrupt and anti-climatic.

I certainly think the punching thing would have worked if maybe there was an epilogue or a bit of an aftermath but the fact that it quite literally ended with him punching Clive's mother was a bad ending.
