Just saw Lead Balloon for the 1st time tonight!

Hi

Our local PBS station added 'Lead Balloon' to their Saturday night British Comedy lineup, and I watched the 1st episode called 'Rubbish'. First off, it's good to have a new British comedy to watch, even though I love the old lineup of 'Keeping Up Appearances', 'As Time Goes By', and 'Are You Being Served?'. I found 'Lead Balloon' to be very much in the vein of 'Seinfeld', albeit less outrageous.

I liked the sketches in the episode I watched, but felt that they dragged out too long and lacked real punch. It's too early to tell whether or not I'll enjoy this show, but it has promise. Plus, it's something new.

I know they're the best comedies ever, so Lead Balloon has a lot to live up to with the PBS audience in our market. Sadly, our PBS station never picked up 'Spaced', which I like a lot better than LB.

The good thing about our PBS station is that they're trying to get new material, so I will wholeheartedly support their efforts by giving the new shows a chance.

theres something I just love about this show, I cant put my finger on it. Is it laugh out loud funny ? rarely but I dont think thats its aim. Its the kind of show I sit and smile at the whole time its on, something about seeing Rick so down and trying to lie his way out of situations without success is just fun to watch.
I really wish they would have made more episodes, Im guessing it was down to low viewing figures which is a shame with some of the rubbish thats aired over here.
