Reggaeton is not all the same beat and the same singing. The problem is, you have only been exposed to the commercial garbage that they spew on the radio stations and clubs in the international market, which typically does have the "same beat" in every song. This beat is known as the Dem Bow Riddim (which is actually a Jamaican Dancehall Reggae rhythm) that has been modified and modernized to fit today's standards of Urban Music (basically making it more likable and danceable for the pop crowd.) But reggaeton didn't used to be like that.

There used to be a wider variety of drum patterns and rhythm selections, however, the Dem Bow pattern was a hit in the latin-american market as well as others, therefore they decided to capitalize on that particular beat, which is why people like you assume it is the ONLY beat in reggaeton, which is false. It just happens to be the most played-out riddim due to popular demand at one point. Unfortunately, they pretty much killed it, which is why it is so easy for people to talk garbage without actually educating themselves about the music genre which they are criticizing. Believe it or not the Dem Bow pattern is actually dying out in Puerto Rico and reggaeton is starting to sound more like techno and dance music, because THAT just happens to be what is in demand as of now. Eventually, it will transform into something else, depending on what the fad will be at that given time.

You see, "reggaeton" in itself isn't a single genre, because at first it started out as Rap in Spanish, eventually it turned into Dancehall Reggae in Spanish, then it transformed into garbage (which is what you have been exposed to), now it is in a Techno/Club stage...

If raggaeton had been high jack like freestlye was by women, it might be in better shape than it is right now?
