Funniest ending ever

I was sure the movie was pulling my leg when they revealed *spoilers* that the psychiatrist turned out to be John's son. The line of "you used to play with my beard" was top tier humour, as well as "your dogs names was woofie" to which the old psychiatrist broke down crying "woofie woofie woofie". I can handle a bit of hackneyed writing, but of all the movies I watched this year this definitely took the cake. But, cool movie otherwise, I enjoyed watching the weirdness of it all unravel.

The superficial expectations of the modern consumer of filmed entertainment continues its downward spiral. No wonder there is so much high-budget crap produced today. The self-absorbed ADD generation needs the neurological equivalent of "big explosions" to achieve the slightest tingle in the limbic system. Put another way, "The Force Awakens" is an awful film for the same reason why "The Man From Earth" is brilliant: the quality of the writing.

TFA is NOT awful. But it's not very good either. Too many explosions. Not enough character building. Rushed plot. Rushed everything really...well except for the explosions.

They could have created a 6-10 hour series based on TFA alone.

Honestly, they should have.

I fail to see the relevance in anything you've said to the OPs comment, and what you have said makes you sound quite blinkered to the fact that people can enjoy high budget action films whilst also enjoying something more cerebral as well.

I found it to be a joyous turned tragic ending. I didn't think it was funny.
