If you mean dialogue-driven movies with limited settings, there are a few I would recommend:

Alfred Hitchcock's Rope (1948): A murder is committed just prior to a dinner party because the perpetrators want to see if they can get away with it.
12 Angry Men (1957), a courtroom drama that only shows the jury deliberation.
My Dinner with Andre (1981): Two friends discuss their differing philosophical views.
The Last Supper (1995): A group of students discuss whether people can deserve to die for having unacceptable viewpoints.
God on Trial (2008): Inmates in Auschwitz put the Almighty on trial for breaching the Covenant.
The Sunset Limited (2011): Two strangers discuss their differing philosophical views.
Carnage (2011): Two pairs of parents get in an argument about a fight between their respective sons.

Don't listen to the negative ones; their arguments are irrational.

Thank you for the list. I will check them out.

I should have been more specific in the question though. More so in terms of the genre. Science fiction I guess you could classify the movie as such.

Check out Coherence (2013). That's about the closest I can think of. Limited setting, science fiction, mostly dialogue-driven, low-budget.

Thank you. I will check it out.

Excellent film. Seconded.

If you're a fan of films like this, in the sense it has fascinating science fiction concepts you could talk about for hours, the sense they have an epic plot twist like what ended up happening in this one, had flawless dialogue driven story, and had emotional depth, I would most definitely recommend "Predestination (2014)" Losers on the net have tried to spoil this one left and right, so I wouldn't look into it too much before viewing it, outside of reading the VERY BASIC synopsis on its page on IMDb, one AND ONLY ONE trailer to see if you think you'd like it, and that's it.

I was searching something similar in theme to this and after all these years I have found it, its a series called Forever http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3487382/ . Its about a 200-year-old man in New York trying to unlock the curse of his immortality. This has flashbacks to earlier periods, encounters with another immortal just like it was mentioned in Man From Earth.... If the Man from earth ever got a series this would be it.

If you haven't seen Ex Machina, definitely give that a shot. The whole movie is basically one location with very few characters and is very dialogue driven.

a bit late but Exam (2009) is a pretty good one.

reply

Thank you. I will look for this movie, as well as all the other recommendations. Thank you kindly.

i've got another one. Not a Scifi but a tragic comedy. Mike Leigh's Abigail's party. Like it a lot.

The Last Man on Earth with Vincent Price
I Am Legend is a remake of the above. Very good but they screwed up the ending.

10 Cloverfield Lane is all dialog and tension. Very fun movie.

Thor 2-Attack of the Clones-The 5th Element the trifecta of bad movies.

Here is another one that is highly based on dialogue, low budget and deals with the subject time: "Primer" from 2004

Dude, it is mind-bending and absolutely fantastic in its idea and execution. After watching it, look up its budget, you won't believe it! Be ready for some twisted brain action.

I promise its an experience that you will remember long! :)
