So, just seen it on the opening
Well, I just got back home after seeing the film at the opening viewing. To be honest I have to say that the early reviews were right in not giving it much credit. As a film in whole this is NOT a very good film. The script is thin and that is masked by some spectacular footage - a classic trick that you'd think film makers would have realised that viewers have long since revealed.
Despite this, I did get entertained and with expectations low already as I went into the cinema I can't really say I'm too disappointed. A number of characters from the original movie are there - Magnus Härenstam's IRS Inspector, Svante Grundberg's canoeing tourist and some others - and the joy of 'meeting again' is obviously a story trick that works. There are also some other comical characters introduced, and we see a large number of the Swedish acting elite in small cameos, including Kjell Bergkvist, Görel Crona, Regina Lund, Julia Dufvenius and others.
As mentioned above though, the script is more than thin, and the story is hacked up and not well connected. I AM disappointed in the sense that this film could have been made better. I have the feeling that there is a lot more footaget that would connect the scenes that passed the editing, and a 'director's cut' 30-45 minutes longer might prove interesting once it makes the shop counters on DVD.
My mark on the 10 grade scale will be a 4.
