I know this sounds very dumb but I didn't understand what the actual secret was! (Maybe as an excuse: I'm not english-speaking)
If Gillery isn't the other parent of Blake, who is? Who is Dan? The male version of Gillery? But then, how could a photo of Gillery and Bernadette exist??
I'm not getting this movie. (I found it beautifully done though ;D)

Although I don't want to give the secret away here, let me give some hints.
> The question of Dan is answered in the diner scene between Gillery and Blake. The origin of the secret is also revealed in this scene.
> Then rewatch the reunion scene, when Gillery and Abbie are dancing on the dance floor. Abbie willl ask Gillery a question and Gillery's answer will completely fill in the blanks for you.
