Autistic?

I'll probably get shot down for suggesting this, but did the girl strike anybody else as being mildly autistic? I can't really put my finger on it, I think it was just her obsession, and the way she spoke sometimes. And the fact that she was about 12 but didn't seem to understand that following the fox would get her lost in the forest.

She was only 10 and being obsessive doesn't make someone autistic. She got lost because her flashlight broke.

I know being obsessive doesn't automatically make somebody autistic, but it is a common trait and so can be an indicator. Perhaps it was just that she was young and sheltered, she just seemed a bit more naive to me than was appropriate for her age.

If she was sheltered then her parents wouldn't have let her leave her room. She was the exact opposite of sheltered. She spent almost all of her time in the woods. She probably knew the woods well enough to think that she wasn't going to get lost. The only way she was naive was in thinking that a fox could be domesticated like a dog, but I would hardly call that being inappropriately naive for her a 10 year old.
