There's no way the fox could have survived that fall through the window. He clearly cut his throat and probably broke every leg too. The scene on the hill where the girl meets the recovered fox was probably just a dream.

Or it was just a poorly written and directed movie, which it was.

It was pure *beep* anyway you look at it.
