Original version with subtitles??
Anybody know where I can find the original french-dialogue version with english subtitles? I'd much prefer this to the dubbed and softer-hearted version that's been released in the UK.
shareI was irritated to find out that the U.S. dvd didn't have the option to view in original language with subtitles. I wonder if there's a Canadian version with the French language track and English subtitles?
I'm also interested to hear that there's a different ending for the French version. Do you know what it is?
last 2 dvds: Milyang/Secret Sunshine (2007) & Léon Morin, prêtre (1961)
The French version is a little longer because it has a different ending but there are also some minute editing differences before the ending. In the French version, we end with the girl all grown up and telling the story to her son in his bedroom (which used to be hers). Most of what you hear Kate Winslet say in the end of the English version is said by the mother in the French version. The scenes where the girl is walking around looking for the fox at the end of the movie are silent in the French version.

Many thanks for the information that there is a French version with English subtitles. For me, experiencing a film in the original language is always more enjoyable than a dubbed version.
For me that is usually the case too with rare exceptions. I believe this is one of them. The English dub was done pretty well in this movie and since there is so little dialog in the film it's hardly even noticeable. I also prefer Kate Winslet's voice over and the ending of the US version which doesn't include the scenes with between her as a mother and her son.

I own that one and I'm in south africa!! But I would rather want the english one but its not avaoilable here!!

Same here. I watched it a few years ago on cable and the original voice is way better and more convincing, IMHO.

Can't rememeber very clearly, perhaps I'm very wrong, but I think it was a scene of the girl in the present time, as a grown up and with her own baby looking through the window of her bedroom.
