MARIAH CAREY robbed and publicly snubbed by the Grammy's

U2 is a great band...but should have NOT won album of the year. It's very sad they won. Mariah Carey’s album was a HUGE crossover that sold and was loved by all sexes, all ages, all races...from 12 years old to 50 years old. Mariah was flat out ROBBED and publicly snubbed by the Grammy’s. What she did and her comeback, should have been acknowledged - for some reason (Sony’s pull & grudge perhaps?) she was not awarded a Grammy on the live event. Many, if not almost everyone, (news, media, online, the industry, critics, millions of fans, etc) thought Mariah was going to win Album of the Year. It's ridulous and all credibility for the Grammy's is lost because of this year. I will not give them another try. The judges should be more than just old white guys that have been doing this for 35 years. This coming from a 38 year old Caucasian man in the entertainment industry. I’m shocked what the Grammy's did. Bye bye Grammy's.

U2 has done a lot more to advance music than Mariah Carey. Having a "comeback" doesn't mean you deserve an award. It's about the music, or at least should be. A lot of times the Grammy's go to the people with a "story", but with handing some hardware over to U2, they finally made a good choice. U2 winning gives the Grammy's more credibility, not less. Most people who win are no talent hacks, but U2 writes and performs their own music. Also, they had the biggest grossing world tour of 2005. Somebody must think they're doing a good job.

I am so glad Mariah didn't win. I got so tired of the "diva" crap back in the 90's, and now she's back, and worse than ever. I think the Grammy dudes knew what they were doing with this one.

The grammy;s have a history in robbing people ant the awards. That's one of the reasons the ratings are down, again!

I don't like Mariah Carey and I thought her album isn't all that good. I'm glad she didn't win Album of the Year.

Um... EXCUSE ME, but Mariah does write her own songs... My gosh... people just see her as a pin up girl who wears revealing clothes, but hardly see her as a talented musician... the ignorance of some people is rather sad...

Dude are you in the dark ages? If you actually bought a Mariah CD, anyone of the probably 10-15 that she has, you'd know that she writes AAAAALLLLLLLL of her stuff. And like Randy Jackson says, she doesn't just scribble something on paper and say "'uh yea these are pretty good lyrics, this'll work', no she WRITES AND THEY TURN INTO HITS"... Duh...

reply

I cant remember any really... and I am 23. She relies too much on her writing and production staff (Jermaine).

I hated both Mariah Carey and U2's albums, and i have never liked there music ever. However I did like McCartney's and Kanye's albums, even if I didn't particularly care for Golddigger, because they played it out so fast.

I agree with Jules, yeah Mariah had huge hits(no pun), I think they just gave U2 all the awards because it has Bono in it. I've heard their new stuff and its not up to par. If Mariah won, she'd be on stage talking about how exhausted she was for 15 minutes.

Me again...
All of you U2 fans are right on. U2 has contributed a great deal to music and they are amazing songwriters and performers...AND great humanitarians! They do a tremendous amount of good with there star power for the world.
I just truly feel Mariah's album...overall...was the better album and for a MUCH broader audience - which is not easily done. It's not just about her comeback...obviously...the album is amazing. She did write a lot of the songs as well. But even if you feel U2 should have won - which is fine - Mariah was still robbed and snubbed by the Grammy’s. The Grammy's just plain messed up - they should have shown Mariah accepting 1 of her 3 Grammy’s live on the broadcast event. We saw Best Rock Album...Best Hip Hop Album...why not Best R&B Album? Especially if you use her as a main headliner and try to draw her fans in to watch. I know some fans who didn't watch on the West Coast because they heard the awful news from the East coast before it aired.
When I heard U2 win…AGAIN…I couldn’t help but yawn and hit the “off” button.

[quote]she probably didnt rite we belong together[quote]

She did, write "We Belong Together." She just used lines from "If You Think You're Lonely Now" by Bobby Wommack and "On Two Occasions" by Babyface. Of course in the liner notes, she gave them writing credits because parts of their songs are in "We Belong Together."

u2 soild 3 million within 2 week sao shut up.

That has nothing to do with whether she (or U2) deserve a Grammy.

Hmm. There's a fine line between fandom and monomania. Guess which side you're on.
