Conspiracy Against the Show - buried? Erased? Disappeared?

Drive is out on DVD. Go Figure.

Standoff was on / off / on iTunes. Off again.

No sight of it, buried somewhere

Some of the finest TV in a long time.

Why is this show being erased?

Does not make sense.

It's like a wierd experiment - can we create a popular show, and make it disappear?

Or was it all a dream? no... wait... there are still 4 episodes on my DVR!

OMG!! Thank goodness I'm not alone! I miss this show soooooo much!! I still have them on my DVD.. not to mention my computer and my Zune.

I agree that there must be some sort of conspiracy against Standoff.

FOX if you're reading this... GIVE US OUR SHOW ON DVD!!!!!!!!!

reply

Yup. I agree. Conspiracy. *nods head*

WE NEED THIS SHOW ON DVD!!! It was an excellent show and deserved more than one season and deserved a better network than FOX to even aire it. We, the fans, and everyone who worked on making Standoff what it was, deserves to have this show put out on DVD.

I'm tired so I don't know if any of that made any sense. But it was my attempt at showing support. *shrugs*

I wonder if it will be out on dvd offically and how will we know when it is?

Sadly to say, if there is any dissension with the cast/producers, etc that sometimes hinders DVD release.

I would like to see this come out on DVD, has anyone every received any kind of reaction from FOX?

reply

I sent FOX a letter in... February, I think. Among other things, I asked them if they intended to give us a DVD..... No answer to that question. Considering how much work some of us put into keeping the show alive, the least FOX could do for us is give us a DVD. Don't think it will happen, though.

That's a definite no then. I watched the show strictly as a follower of Ron's career-(although a few of his shows I liked better) and was surprised how much the promotions tapered off after the baseball break.

It was a fairly smart show, (although it seemed the scripting got better towards the end of the series than the beginning) Fox must have had higher expectations.

That's a shame they dropped it- and, from the looks of this board, it had a loyal fanbase.

The ratings also tapered off after the baseball hiatus. I honestly think that was a big part of the reason the show died. I know, there wasn't anything they could do about the Series being played during that time, but they at least could have pushed the promotion.

One of the most loyal. If I were an actor, I sure would have wanted the friends I made at the FOX board supporting my show. :O)

The one thing that I don't get is that is had about the same number of viewers as the TV show Bones. Yep they were neck and neck with the number of viewers. Bones still doesn't have that many viewers but they took of Standoff. I am a fan of both shows but I want no need Standoff back on!!

I thought you were too screwed up to love anybody. I was wrong. You just couldn't love me.

reply

I never did understand the thinking at FOX when they kept Bones and dropped Standoff. I love this show and I agree, it was getting better in the later episodes. Sometimes I don't understand the thinking of the braintrust at networks.

reply

I don't either! THey have messed up thinking. I would have dropped another show! Not Standoff or Bones!

QueenofStandoff

FOX give us our DVD for Standoff you bastards!!

reply

I am watching episodes on Hulu.com. Great show...I had never heard of it before...

reply

Not a big surprise- it wasn't promoted very well. I'm glad to know you are enjoying watching it! It was the best new show last year, I thought.

reply

The fact the show is still gaining fans after being cancelled shows what a stupid decision FOX made.

I do agree that the scripts did continue to improve as the series went on. The final episodes were the best of the series!

I WANT STANDOFF ON DVD!!!!

FOX is known for making stupid decisions when it comes to canceling TV shows... Look what happened when they cancelled Firefly, it became a cult phenomenon and even spun off a movie. FOX clearly doesn't care what their fans want, it's all about the money to them. They won't even sell the rights to their shows to other networks, so they might have a chance.
Basically, FOX sucks overall and I would rather illegally download their shows off the internet than watch that channel.

Standoff was awesome! Whats up with Fox! I cant believe them. They even cancelled Firefly.... sheesh Fox... get a clue... and bring back Standoff!! What about a DVD release??? either that or I'm sure most of us fans will just find download it for free.

Can't believe I am posting YEARS later but I loved this show! I watched it in highschool along with 24 and a bunch of other shows and it just DISAPPEARED. I couldn't even find it on *ahem* exotic streaming methods. Very strange, I had bought a few episodes on iTunes, only 2 or 3 thinking I could download all of them when I saved up but then it was removed.

FOX is VERY annoying. Example: 24 was shot on film and show in HD broadcast yet no Blu-ray announcement, only DVD's, now some may not like Blu-ray but the quality is the best and I always spend my money on Blu-rays of good TV series, I loved 24 and it looked amazing in HD but the DVD's don't cut it :/

Similar story with other shows not even making it to anything other than broadcast. I had a bunch of episodes of 24 on my old TiVo, unforuntely that is long gone :/
