The truth is so moving
I was deeply engaged with this story --- it does it no justice to call it merely tragic. It is an epic of survival and hope, but also of ghastly reality. A very important film, bearing witness to a family's efforts to stay together and alive amidst the outrage and horror of war. The acting was authentic and seamless, and never does the film descend to sentimentality or manipulation of emotions. You cannot help but wonder what you would have done if caught up in this terror and uncertainty year after year. Would I have emotionally and physically found the strength to continue? Or would the weight of the fear and loss have overwhelmed my will to live?
