A Magic Moment in the History of Music!

I remember Roy's music being around in the 1960s but the earth never moved for me. Then 9 months ago I came across 'Black and White Night' on late night U.K. TV. It was rivetting and for 3 months following I played that DVD every day bar none.

Every other singer I'd ever liked, Al Bowlly, Presley, the Beatles, were blown away.

On that Black and White Night the elite musical performers in the western world came together For One Night Only. It was unique. It was Roy's finest hour and Roy knew it. He gave the finest performance of his life. Let's be honest, his appearance on the Austin City Limits DVD is wooden by comparison.

Best numbers? In Dreams, Dream You, Leah and Crying. Why? Because in them his operatic quality takes over.

Even Bruce Springsteen, who I usually run a mile from, performed superbly. There were no discordent notes that night. The editing of the film is worth an Oscar in itself.

Alas there will never be a 'Black and White Night 2'.

Great post. I have the dvd myself, and after having it for 3 years I still never grow tired of watching it. What a night it was for performers and the audience. I wish I could have been there. Thanks for a great concert gang. The group of performers present and Roy have no idea how happy they made me. Rich
