Life is a Dream sketch w/Jan Hooks
I was wondering what the jan hooks/phil hartmann skit was about, the life is a dream one...its like a mini movie. it seems to be a serious skit...where did it come from?

shareyeah its pretty random ... i was watching something on snl and they said they also wanted to show phil's seriosu side
shareIs that really them singing?
Don't mess with the Jedi Master, son.
No, it sounds just like the original sound. It was a beutiful sketch and Phil was amazing in it. I still find it weird why they would make it....

The film for the Schiller's Reel segment is titled: "Love is a Dream". The voice of Jan Hooks is singer/actress Patricia Norcia. The music and male voice is from an unpublished version of The Emperor's Waltz (Strauss) and the voice Phil lip-synched to was actually Bing Crosby.
shareI found a version with Bing only (the one Phil sings) but haven't located so far the version with the female voice (sung by Jan Hooks) and Bing Crosby.

Scroll down to "pagina 7" and look for the file there.
It is actually "Love is a Dream" and the film was written by Tom Schiller and produced/photographed by Neal Marshad. There's a book available on Amazon.com with more details: "Nothing Lost Forever: The Films of Tom Schiller" by Michael Streeter
shareIt was a great sketch, showing the "classy" style that Phil had. It was also a fitting way to end the collection, with the kiss goodbye... I actually got a lump in my throat. The "Farewell" ending with Chris Farley (where they do a little song to end that particular airing with Phil singing Chris to sleep) would have worked too, although I still get a chill up my spine when I see the two of them do it.
sharei saw the movie vertigo with jimmy stewart and there's a part in the movie that looks identical to when phil hartman and jan hooks are older. i'm just wondering if they took that from the movie
