has anyone noticed…

this might sound lame since so many people ar obsessed with it BUT, has anyone noticed the many sim ilarities between SE: lain and donnie darko. the greatest difference is the abscence of the technology element in dd. the greatest similarities though seem to be the religious questions, the sacrifice, and the theme of the end of the world as a very personal experience. i'm not very articulate but hopefully you get the gist of what i am saying. let me no your thoughts.

p.s. the most disturbing aspect of lain for me was her family, especially her mother.

I actuallly thought of that when the text in the last episode of Lain comes up and says something to the effect of COMPLETE RESET. It is very similar in the DD driectors cut when PURGE can be flashing over the screen in one of the final systems.

As for the person who said the God in Donnie Darko is stated to be just God, I would urge them to take a look at the commentary on the drector's cut, where Richard Kelly talks about an alien technology in the scene where Donnie first hears Frank. There is some talk in there of God as a machine,
