What now? I'm the only one loving this series?

Hello!

I've been following this series with great enthusiasm, and now it's gone... I really can't belive it! *cry*

It was a helluva great show, and I was shocked when they finished off Gale Harold! And just to top it; days later I stumbled over the news 'bout the cancelling of the show..

Why?

Ratings not good? No? Why?

I really think this is one of the best shows in it's genre.. It's been said, that if the ratings' good, they'll put on a second season, but, for some reason, I just don't see that one coming, ..good ratings, or not.

Am I the only one who loved this show? I just finished watching the 13th episode, and NO conclusion! (Which was the only upside; a series that wouldn't go on forever.. ..but, then again; no..)

So; how's the odds for this show? You thinks it's gonna air again? A 2nd season?

But, the thing I don't understand.. at all.. out of ALL the series out there, they had to cancel THIS ONE? I mean.. was the ratings really THAT bad?!

-confused and sad!

Sorry for any bad english; it's not my primary language..

yes, ratings were poor. some will say it went downhill after gale was killed off. some will say it was because of the writing, directing, storylines. whatever the reasons, the show is gone. no second season. out on dvd? i truly don't think so. you may be in a small class of others who feel as you do but the consenus is that noone really liked the ending at all.

You must be a royal fool if you thought this series was enjoyable. It started off as a trainwreck, got just a little better, but then went to the crapper.

I bet you enjoy the smell of dung if you thought this was good.

reply

that's a little harsh, don't you think.

I loved the show too. I am one of the many who never got to see the ending and I'm a little be p.o'd about that.

I thought the show had a lot of potential.

I wish they hadn't killed off Gale :(

I love shows with lots of things to think about and lots going on.

There is a "Myspace" site for this series...
http://creative.myspace.com/VOD/vanished/index.html
with all 13 episodes on streaming video...
Check it out....
also streaming this season's 24, Prison Break, Bones, etc...
About time Fox did something cool... a little bit, anyway....
Personally, my wife and I enjoyed this, for what it was....
We haven't watched tv in years, but occasionally catch stuff via the "net"...
So, thanks to Myspace, got to catch this short-lived series...
Biggest complaint was the flow of the story...
at times rushed, other times dragging/padded...
Too many subplots caused it to become weighed down...
Some tossed away after a bit of a mention but never really addressed again....
and the amount of red herrings was almost laughable....
Could've been better, could've been worse...
Ultimately, would have been better if the writers had paced the story better...

God, is there anything Myspace HASN'T got covered these days?!?!

MySpace is owned by News Corp., as is Fox. So why the astonishment? :)

reply

Ooohhh, that explains it. I actually didn't know that.

by the way, i wasn't astonished, i was just being sarcastic.

Loved Vanished. Great twists, nice conspiracy and enough action.

Actually, I enjoyed the show. This season I caught up pretty much on 24 and LOST, and this seemed to be in the same genre. I was not aware of "Gale" and his popularity, so his leaving didn't affect me.

The only thing that disappointed me in this series was the final episode or the "ending." There were so many sub-plots that were left hanging, never addressed again. I felt the ending was extremely weak with all the unanswered questions, i.e., relationship of Sara with her parents and her daughter, why did she pose as Niki? what happened to the boyfriend who shot the Senator, what happened to Sarah's husband and step-children. Just how far did the conspiracy go? And were there ever any repercussions. What happend to the guy on death row's wife? Etc. The questions go on and on.

It seemed that the writers did a hurry-up job to try to end the series and an extremely poor job of trying to do so.

I think the reason the season finale left us
wanting more, wanting some conclusion which made
sense is that the network hoped the series would
be a big success and would be back for a second
season.

I know that we would have loved a better ending,
but judging by the way most networks deal with new
shows if the numbers aren't great they cut their
losses and run rather than promoting the series
or finding a day and time slot that would give it
the greatest chance to build an audience.

Don't you fine it odd that in recent years we've
gone from Drama's, Comdey's and the like to reality
tv and game shows and sports? When I check the
programs for the week I'm lucky it I can find three
things I'm interested in from Sunday to the following
Saturday. Now isn't that pathetic?

I for one would love to see Vanished on DVD. Say what you
will about the show, but for me the show had promise.

Fox cancels anything when the ratings drop. They have more shows that fail than any other network in my view. I feel that Fox doesn't give shows much of chance.
