The book version

Did anyone who read the book like it better than the movie? Or was the movie better? I thought I read that the book takes place in a different era - is that correct?

I love this movie and am buying the DVD, but I'd like to hear reader's opinions on the book version before I buy it.

Thanks!

The book does take place in a different era-as I recall the early 1900's.

The book is VERY thorough and extremely detailed. In the book Elizabeth and her husband had something like 4 children, I think. It detailed the dementia which was difficult at times to read because of what that does to the person who suffers from it and the family who has to deal with it. The book also covered the influenza outbreak of the early 20th century.

I liked the book but I loved the movie even more which is unusual for me. In my opinion, books are always better than their movie counterparts.

I too will buy the DVD. I loved David Norona's character. I fell in love with him.
