RUFFIAN: airs on Belmont Day!

This is one made-for-TV-movie I'm really looking forward to seeing!
The Belmont Stakes will be run on Saturday, June 9th...
then later that evening, "RUFFIAN" the movie will air on ABC @ 9:00pm (EST).

I love Horse Pictures! Any movie with horses is worth seeing, imo. : )
...and Horse Racing movies: Well, it's my favorite sport...so I'll be watching!
If you have a moment, search RUFFIAN on YouTube and see her run... she was beautiful!!!

I read on the Bloodhorse.com site that Whiteley and Vasquez are suing Disney over this movie. I hope this doesn't prevent it from being shown Saturday.

reply

All during the race they were running ads for it, so I'm sure it'll be showing as scheduled. I've got a vhs tape all ready to go.

Very cool that Rags to Riches beat the boys today!

After seeing this annoying, silly movie I hope Whiteley and Vasquez get some kind of industrial strength disclaimer pasted all over it. No wonder they went to court.

And those ugly, short-legged 'Ruffians'...pity the descendants of Shenanigans cannot sue in a similar fashion for libel...

Can you believe those reporters couldn't tell they weren't seeing Ruffian? That horse wasn't even the same color!

Do you happen to know the name of the horse they used to portray Ruffian? I've searched high and low and I can not find anything on the web about it.

Well, there were 4 or 5 geldings used to play her part.

Yeah, there was even a few quarter horses that did a scene or two, same with Phar Lap's movie. But the movie about this champion filly was definetly one worth seeing. But I'll have to say that it almost breaks your heart at the end, honestly I didn't see a dark bay filly lying on that table in the vet's room, but a bright bay colt...
