Stupidest thing about this movie...

You probably shouldn't read this if you haven't seen this movie. I would think the thread title makes that obvious, but some people are really clueless, it seems.

Okay, so I had a few drinks while watching this movie, so maybe I'm wrong and missed something but... Jet Li disguising his character's already changed voice when he's talking to Statham's character over the telephone has to be the most pointless fcking thing ever. Yeah yeah, someone will no doubt call me out by saying: "You really think THAT'S the stupidest thing ever about this movie?" But seriously, what the hell was the point of that? Apparently the surgeons altered his voice to be different. Then he uses one of those voice altering devices for a voice that's already altered? That's like hiding something that's already invisible. And as if to ignore all of that, he is confronted by Statham at the warehouse in the very next fcking scene anyway. And I believe he even speaks to Statham. What the hell?

Just saw it again. I don't think it was stupid.
Yes, he had a surgery that altered his voice. But that only means that this voice is now attached to him and can be recorded and tracked. So he obviously has an interested in keeping his voice a secret. Especially since he decided to keep the identity of "Rogue". That probably also means that his cell phone is scrambling his voice for all calls by default, not just for this particular call. And yes, they meet in warehouse the next scene anyway but Crawford only suspects that it was Rogue that called him.
