Based on a BBC show called Operation Good Guys!

Without doubt, this was based on this funny but little known show, and not solely 'Cops' as most people say. If you like '911' and are into British comedy, check Operation Good Guys out, i'd say that it also inspired The Office in some ways. I'm writing this so that the 'OGG' can get some 'props'. BTW, Flight of the Conchords also borrowed a lot from another British show called the Mighty Boosh, and for some strange reason, no one likes to mention it, either.

Yeah dude. I totally agree that this is very similar. I absolutely loved O.G.Guys when it was shown originally on BBC2 i think in 1997/8. I waited years to see it again and it came out on dvd in 2005.(which i bought). Brilliant program. But i also think Reno is very much its own program based more on Cops. Still, so similar in idea. I also bought 1st 3 series of Reno on import, got Reno Miami and jus bought and watched `Miami...More Busted Than Ever` version which is basically a different version of the movie. In reviews it says it is a version of the movie with extended and cut/removed scenes. Its NOT...Its a completely different movie..almost like a small budget version they made, to get funding for the finished version out on dvd in shops. Still effing funny tho.
And to the dick that replied...Whateveer.....jus track down Operation Good Guys and watch it before ya pass on derogatory sarcastic comments. Cos ya may just find something amusing that you can brag to ya mates that you "discovered".

the only problem with this is it just simply isn't true. it isn't based on that show at all. this is a spoof of 'cops' and the actors have said such for many years. end of story. american still have good original ideas....even though it was based on another american show.
