i won't say anything about the actor's performances. there is almost nothing to act here...

IMHO the movie don't have a conflict, neither resolution, neither tense, and thus, no argument/no sense

i was interested in the movie, because it promotion talked about a "identity theft", and i heard it about some kind of "domestic/local-colored identity theft"...

though, the ID-theft in this movie, goes no far away from the world wide joke of register on a hostal with a different name than the real...

but, ok... let's believe the proposition... what we will found ? no ID-theft is sustancial in any scene (except one, where the character has to asist an old woman), then, obviously it is no sustancial anyway in the movie...

and worse... nothing is sustancial in the movie, meaning by sustancial: "the trick of director to hold the public interested in the movie"

I agree that to advertise this movie by focusing on the fact that the protagonist steals the dead man's identity is misleading.
I still found the movie interesting, though
All the indoor scenes (and there are many) are pervaded by a sense of suspence ... this helps to convey the sense of a crucial turning point in the protagonist's life. A moment when everything is possible.
The fact that in the end nothing will change in his life is not so relevant. Everything COULD have changed.
I was not overly convinced by the ending, but I thought that both the director and the lead actor really showed some talent in depicting the depths of daily life. And the old man (the father) was remarkable. I even wondered whether perhaps he didn't act at all (i.e. whether he was really physically impaired).

It's a minimalist film, which explains why it's different from what you seem to expect. You're meant to get an idea of the character's feelings from observing him; certainly much different from a dialogue heavy film, I mean you really have to pay attention to the subtle clues. I like the film for its strong visuals.

The Dude abides. I don't know about you but I take comfort in that.
