The bomb

I love the line "Superman IV delivered a bomb in more ways than one".

This doco is great, with Kevin Spacey perfect as the narrator. Because it was made at the time of Superman Returns it doesn't really tell the true story of that films failures to deliver the hit it should have been. I think the doco could have asked why the last 3 Superman movies have been: III: Moderately successful but critically panned, IV: A complete flop and a terrible movie; Returns: Moderately successful and moderately acclaimed.
Yet in the time that the movies have been disappointing, and you might assume that Superman is a fading star, we've had Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, and Smallville (10 seasons!) doing so well.

Maybe it's just a case of Superman really being better suited to TV...? Other than Superman 1 & 2, he has always performed better on TV than on the big screen.
