BEST FOOTBALL FILM I'VE EVER SEEN!

This is easily the best football film that I've ever seen. Its pretty much non-stop, never gets boring and is really well written and filmed. The acting's really great too, much better than I expected! Especially Liam and Charlie's characters, they made it feel like proper football matches, like your right there on the pitch with Rooney, Gerrard and Beckham! Made me and my mate want to get out and have a kick about strait away! Its definitely a good one to watch with a few mates on a night in with a couple of pizzas too. Proper good action and really involving. There's some well fit girls in it as well!!! Honestly, what more could you want?!

How did you watch the film when its not released on DVD till the 15th June?

Wrong on all accounts I'm afraid. I work for Liverpool FC and as Stevie G is in the film all the staff got invited to a premiere. Trust me, its great!

reply

So you think its better than the previous 2 Goal movies? I would say the new clough movie is the best football film i've seen so far.

vin61158, do you often walk into libraries, look at all the books on the shelves and then judge them by their covers?

Anyone who says a film is "the best" and quotes 'Tin Cup', is certainly not worth listening to.

Anyone who misreads what I put is certainly not worth listening to, but I've been an idiot and have listened to you.

a) I merely ask whether or not you (or whoever it was) usually judges films before seeing them, only I did it in a unique way because I'm interesting :)

b) Tin Cup is a decent film and I like the quote I have chosen. (Didn't know people actually read those things! So thanks :)) I no doubt that if you have seen it ("if" being the key word, you could well be judging it pre-viewing) you didn't like it because not many people seem to like Kevin Costner... but lets not get into one of those debates "He's sh!t, he isn't sh!t" debates, especially on a film he didn't even star in!

I am :)

I won't deny it, I'm avoiding this film like th plague (Not going to bother putting the word, book, in quotation marks like you have - we both knwo what we're discussing) because of the sensationally bad publicity it's been getting. I think i'm going to either a) Hold out for Goal 4 or b) Pretend that they never made a Goal 3 until I see it in a bargain bin for 99p... which sounds as though it could be pretty darn soon!

Just wasn't that keen on people slating it before it had even been released and for the record, I enjoyed Goal 2 :)

Is there much competition in football film genre? :D

Script which included bondage porn movie and career ending car crash was dumb, dull and predictable.

But two things that really stand out were godawful CGI and the score which was so overhelmingly sensitive it made Dear Sister in OC look like art.

reply

if this is the best football movie youve ever seen you obviously missed "GOAL" and GOAL II wich was also great,GOAL is probably the best football movie ever made and the sequel was not too bad either, miricle match was better than goal 3..this movie sucked

reply

that is disappointing; I intentionally did not watch Goal 2 because many posts were written stating that it was rubbish; very frightening to read that Goal 3 actually makes Goal 2 look like a good movie. should have just left it at Goal 1 and that's it...

reply

Goal 3 the best football film? nah i don't think so. the first Goal movie was much better than this.

you should check out the film "Escape to Victory". the action is much better than this film of WC 2006 highlights with a couple of actors in front of a blue screen.

reply

Goal - was great
Goal 2 - was ok
Goal 3 - was absolutely terrible.

Storyline is boring, CGI is pathetic, complete let down. Out of the whole movie I only liked the soundtrack (that's how bad this movie was).

reply

I'm sorry but this was not as good as first 2, the blue screen parts were so poorly done it was brutal to watch and i absolutely loved this series. The fact that it doesn't continue off from where the last one finished is garbage. His girlfriend was preggo and the third one barely makes reference to it at all. script was weak. I was really disappointed in this one almost to the point i didn't even see it and i have been waiting a year and a half for it to come out. The fact that it doesn't even really follow much of the original charters was brutal.
I feel sorry for all those people out there like me who were expecting more and a better story to finish off the series.

reply

Yep gotta agree with the naysayers. I couldn't have cared less for any of the characters, not even Santi. It might have been better if they bothered to introduce the new characters and gave us a reason to care about them. Weak blue screen football sequences. All of the scenes had a bit of a made for TV feel with no ambient sounds.

The bottom line is that this film is Goal!III in title only. It's a completely separate story with a guest appearance by Kuno Becker as Santiago Munez.

reply

The movie was so *beep* there is only one line to describe how bad the movie was, "Santiago Munez, the so called wonder kid, movies to Spurs!"

this is by far one of the worst films ive ever seen... not just football films either. as someone who works in film, went to film school, etc., i can say that this is easily and objectively the worst of the 3 in this series... the single worst thing was just the overall storyline. the fact that it follows charlie and liam is just totally uninspired and out of left field, i mean these guys are supposed to be santi's best friends, yet theres been nothing about them at all in the 1st 2 films, and no real engaging backstory to support their friendship now. everything else fell to *beep* as a result of this; the writing was just dry and completely expected at every turn, the acting, while not necessarily "bad", was very hard to sit thru, then again they were trying to do the best they could with what they were given. and then the actual live football action was TERRIBLE compared to the first two movies. the GOLDEN RULE when it comes to fitting in actors in with real live gameplay is to STICK TO LONG LENSES, just like the real action is shot! they stuck to this in the first two flicks for the most part, but this one was crap! every time we see liam and charlie on the pitch, you notice how it looks like youre standing right there with em? well thats cuz they shot em with wide angle lenses, instead of telephotos, ugh its just so unprofessional. what a complete waste. very very big let down on this one.

reply

obviously you weren't watching the same film i did. the script was horrible. what's goal without santiago being the main character. there was hardly any soccer in the film and what they showed was very poor green screen footage and borrowed footage from the actual world cup.
it shouldn't even be called goal 3. they shoulda named it something else. the budget was obviously far less than the previous two which were great films. i was upset at how awful this was done. watch for yourself everyone and you'll see what i'm talking about

reply

utter rubbish! if not for the chicks, i wouldnt hv stayed the whole length!
the 1st 2 was more bearable

reply

it wasn't bad, but very badly done. lol

reply

I agree with the majority this film is the worse out of the 3. The special effects were just awful and GOAL is mainly about the life of Santi yet he was hardly around.
Very disappointed in this movie.

reply

While watching this film.... I was WTF????

I really enjoyed both the first 2 films (especially the first)

But come on if you wanted to make a stand alone futbol movie, that has nothing to do with the first 2 films then great go ahead and do that. By the way if this film was not titled Goal 3 I would have enjoyed it alot more. Actually it's not bad.

The real problem I have... Is that it is called Goal 3 and after investing years of waiting, we get duped. Santiago's journey didn't have to lead him to a World Cup victory... but to not even play 1 game. Unless they are planning Goal 4 with the footage from the next World Cup this film will go down as the biggest "bait and switch" or biggest deviation from the previous story lines in film history.
