What is this movie about?

I'm mainly here for Seu Jorge, because he's incredible.
So anyhow, what is this movie about, and how is it?

Seu Jorge plays a small part in this movie as a brazilian druglord in Caracas, and it's probably only thing worth seeing (he sings a bit too). The movie is basically about two friends: Sebastian (Edgar Ramirez) a theater actor and Galo (Erich Wildpret) a gay fashion designer, and the relationship beetween them and others around them , in their carreers' succeses and failures, and how messed up life can get when you make stupid mistakes. The plot is not that bad actually, but the movie is told in an unnecesarily stupid non-linear style (ellipsis) with cheap special effects, very bad acting, and a cinematography that tries too hard to look like a fashion magazine instead of a crime drama, that end up being far too distracting to enjoy Seu's performance or the decent plot idea behing it.

I wish, I knew. I did not get the movie at all. I understand that Edgar ( do not remember the name of the character) another guy and the second police have a debt with the drug dealer and need to pay, but for the rest.....!!

The movie is about the causes that leads some fellow to plan a robbery. Killing somebody and kidnaping another in the process. It sounds like your typical crime thriller. And it is to some extent. The main difference is that "Elipsis" doesn't follow a straightforward narrative, instead of that it has an "eliptical" narrative. (The movie jumps in time back and forward now and then, besides several unsolved clues are let behind)
It's an interesting concept but bad executed and poorly acted (some performances are no better than what you get to see in a BAD soap opera) except for the leading actor (Ramírez) and Mrs. Angélica Aragón (in a small role, though) whom are the best part of the film.

I won't be so harsh with "Elipsis" because it's the first work by Eduardo Arias. I believe he can (and will) deliver better works in the coming years.

6/10
