Saw this movie last night when the Zone Horror channel screened it. As far as I'm aware it's not available on DVD here in the UK, so the broadcast was the British premiere.

I enjoyed it. Considering the budget and time restraints that it was clearly filmed under, it's an entertaining film that packs a lot of story into it's running time.

If I might offer some constructive criticism, there are perhaps too many characters - more than the story actually needs - and as a result we learn hardly anything about most of them (various members of The Nine, for example, often have little to do beside standing around in the background holding guns). Unfortunately, if we don't know anything about these people, we don't care about them, and the movie seems slightly overpopulated. I think the same thing can be said about the only other Leigh Scott film I've currently seen, Transmorphers.

Also the final twist about Fox's true identity was ruined for me by the fact that during the earlier flashback to the first meeting between the Countess and Dracula, despite the scene of Dracula removing his helmet being filmed from behind his shoulder, I could still recognise actor Tom Downey's distinctive bone structure. It might have been better if Downey had worn a long wig to cover the side of his face during that scene.

But I stress that these are minor quibbles. Dracula's Curse boasts a good script and good peformances. Thumbs up to Scott and the leading castmembers.

I also saw this on the Zone Horror premiere, and enjoyed the film very much.

In fact I enjoyed it enough that by the end of the film I went looking online to see if the DVD was available to buy within the UK, according to one shop the DVD has a release date of 21/01/2008.

I have seen a few of the directors films on zone horror, and found most enjoyable, at the least for one watch, this film though, I think will end up in my keep list.

I agree that a lot of the secondary characters were given the short shift. I wanted to get to know the various members of the Nine a lot more. Hopefully there will be a sequel about the further adventures of the Nine that will give the various members of the Nine a bit more screen time so we can get to know them better. But overall it was a very enjoyable picture with a surprisingly complex script and engaging main characters.

I write bios, therefore I am.

i thought this movie was okay. though the budget contraints show, it is still not a bad movie. the tacky acting was pretty bad as were the fighting scenes, but i still enjoyed it.
the twist at the end where Dracula reveals himself, partially redeemed it for me.

the copyright at the end of the credits, is hilarious, "We suggest moving, and/or staying away from, well, pretty much anywhere because the vampires will find you no matter what." haha, glad to see they can poke fun.

i am also hoping there is a sequel to get more of the back story.

There's a sequel - Wolvesbayne (2009) - in which three members of The Nine return (though one is played by a new actress), and Leigh Scott reprises his role as 'The Old One'.

Following Dracula's Curse (2006), written and directed by Leigh Scott, and Wolvesbayne (2009), written & produced by Scott and directed by Griff Furst (a Dracula's Curse cast-member), there's a third movie in the series - The Lost Girls, directed by Scott and co-written with Eliza Swenson. The character of Sadie appears in all three films (played a different actress each time), while Gracie and Trixie (who both debuted in Dracula's Curse) both return in The Lost Girls, with Swenson reprising her role as Gracie.

Sadly, although The Lost Girls was completed in 2014, at the time of writing it hasn't been released and appears stuck in post-production/distribution limbo.
