A quieter Full Metal Jacket by a gentler Kubrick

I like how Loktev chooses restraint. I like the presence of the main character's face and the absence of music and many other things in this movie. It's not really a movie though, it's more like a visual/aural...meditation.

absence of music? I haven't seen Full metal in a decade and half but still vividly remember Bird is the Word and Paint It Black being in it
