Narnia vs. Harry Potter

In your opinions, Which one is better and why?

"We do not inheret the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children"

Narnia, as I hate Harry Potter.

Definitely Narnia. I don´t like Harry Potter. I even prefer Narnia to Lord of the Rings.
Narnia 2,3 is imho funnier, romantic... I don´t like Narnia 1... so maybe the difference is Ben ;-)

Narnia, I just feel it's overall a more interesting story and the characters are more likeable. That and well I just dislike HP.

I was thinking of making a topic about Narnia vs Harry Potter.

Having seen the first 2 Narnia movies and first 3 Harry Potter movies (plus read the first book), I must say the Harry Potter movies are more intelligently adapted for adults and kids alike.

The second Narnia movie was a fairy tale solely aimed at hammering the 'courage will overcome all' message into our skulls. Help will always, ALWAYS arrive towards the very end when all seems lost... subtlety be damned.

At least Harry Potter's problems required the protagonists to outwit the bad guys in creative ways.. in Narnia everything is practically taken care of via timely interventions.

I think Harry Potter because its set around now in this time.
But do like the Narnia films still.

It seems like you can only like one here. But I love Harry Potter and Narnia and even Lord of the Rings and Percy Jackson. I don't have an alliegence too one and a burning hatred for the other.

ONLY FILMS: I like Harry Potter, I love Narnia.

HP: I get that it's a fantasy, but my biggest problem with it is believeability - or lack thereof. The idea that a kid who is bullied his whole life stands up for himself and others as soon as he gets the chance is not at all believeable to me, nor is the adult way the three main characters speak and act most of the time and, while I find the old school feel of the wizarding world charming, I particularly don't believe that they went up against a serial killer without the help of modern technology eg. guns. Also, broomsticks don't look like they'd be comfortable for dudes. But I'm a sucker for magic and I like the gothic visuals and Labyrinth-ine Diagon Alley.

NA: In LWW & PC, the characters act like brothers and sisters, they're petty like kids and the wrong they do, while not justifiable, is relatable. Magic is used well and doesn't always equal special effects (they walk through a door to get into Narnia in LWW; in PC, Susan's horn is just a horn that makes an ordinary horn noise) and the Pevensies all hold equal value in the films, yet are all still different. Also, the animals talk, Santa was in one film and I like how the past of one film ties in with another.

Movies or books? Or both?

Movies: Narnia
Books: Harry Potter

Harry Potter is lots lots better, it's a great series. Narnia is alright.

Gold medal of fantasy = Harry Potter.

Silver medal of fantasy = The Middle Earth trilogies.

Bronze medal of fantasy = The Chronicles of Narnia.

But the key point was made by a previous poster. You don't have to be for one and against the others. Plenty of room for all of them! :)

Of course everyone is going to pick Narnia on the Narnia board.

I still have to see Dawn Treader, but I prefer the Potter films.

Come at the king, you best not miss.
