I love JoBeth Williams but...

..what were they thinking? Her scenes came across as funny, not frightening. The scene where she's taking a crap on the neighbor's lawn and laughing maniacally was just too much. She was like a cartoon villainess.

Let it lead me trembling, trembling...I own every bell that tolls me.

I THOUGHT that was JoBeth, but I wasn't sure!

I actually had no idea it was JoBeth until the credits rolled! She looked so different! I love her in Poltergeist.

Isn't that the point?
That is what mental illness is really like; it's not suposed to look sophsticated

According to the book, she really did laugh maniacally when she was doing that. Also, this version makes the enema scene twice as frightening because it shows the little girl reacting and you could feel the terror she seemed to feel when she was tied up on the table. The same would go for the button-hook.

I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked.
