Praise well deserved

The highlight of this film, for me, was definitely the music.

The final montage set to the sounds of Mariza's "Ó Gente da Minha Terra" is guaranteed to move the most hardened of souls to tears. Without understanding a word of Portugese, you will immediately recognise the universal emotions of yearning and loss inherent in her voice. Those interested, can lookup 'fado' which is the Portugese style of music that this song belongs to.

Without resorting to cheap underhanded tactics, this film will move you. How often can you say that about a movie these days? And mentioned previously, this is a rare find. Winning the Silver bear at the Berlin film festival was praise well deserved.

I believe there are more political meanings hidden in the movie.

Anyway it is a really beautiful movie

Political is the essential part to make up the story, and the true theme about this movie is quite old fashion: love, love, love.

No matter how the world changes.

I think it explained very well in the movie, cos it even has an extreme condition: the father and the daughter's messy and complex relationship.

I watched it recently and I agree that it's a movie worth seeing. Performances were solid and the mood of the film was just right. The music helped a lot in the telling of the story. Touching movie with an impressive cast n crew.
