Last Show

How cool to have Weird Al host the last show. G4TV (Comcast) is nuts to let this one get away. Come Comedy Central. Pick it up!

It was great seeing Weird Al! I don't get why they didn't try harder to get a really good, permanent replacement for Kevin. I realize the decision to end the show may have been made already, but I still think they had something to work with.

It's obvious the people in charge are retards.

There was nothing like AOTS on TV.

The Comedy Central idea is very good, I haven't watched anything on that channel since Insomniac was canceled. That was a funny travel show.

Considering the announcement that AOTS was cancelled happened in October, I'm sure the writing was on the wall much earlier than that. It was probably even a catalyst for Kevin leaving. The timeline was likely to have guest hosts for the summer and see what happened with the network come fall.

Chris Hardwick would have been the other obvious choice, but he was so busy with everything Nerdist was doing that he just couldn't commit to 4 days a week of live television. If they had caught him before he got the big deal from Legendary in July, they might have been able to persuade him with massive creative control over the show. And a bunch of money. If they really wanted to make a go of G4 as nerd content for nerds again, Hardwick would have been the perfect person to make king of the network.

Of the other guest hosts, John Barrowman was the only one who seemed really comfortable with all aspects of the show. He would have made a great permanent host, but his schedule would have been way too full with Arrow filming in Vancouver. It would have been the last few months of Munn all over again. Also, his sexuality may have been a concern to many fans. I had no problem with it, but there was a lot of homophobia going around in Facebook comments during the weeks he hosted.

I actually think the dynamic that they had with Candace, Matt, and Sara all together for the last show was a great dynamic and should have been tested earlier. It obviously wouldn't have made a difference in the cancellation, but would have made the last few months go much smoother.

I'd have to agree Barrowman was by far the best of the guest hosts, his shows were really funny and he just seemed to fit great, and he got all the jokes and references and made the show fun.

That being said, my choice would have been Matt Mira. He was really getting into the swing of things and I think he would have made a PERFECT co-host, not only he was a veteran of the show got all the inside jokes, but he had the tech knowledge . He really grew on me toward the end of the show.. I don't see why he didn't get the job. They would have needed a new gadget pr0n host, though. Oh well. Really will miss AoTS. as much as it declined toward the end, and wasn't able to match the quality of the Pereira-Munn years, It was STILL far better than the rest of the crap on TV.

Well, Chris has his own Nerdist TV show on space channel (syfy in us?) now, funnily enough, so I guess he wasn't too busy to host a full time show

I personally can't stand Chris Hardwick at all so no for that idea. Absolutely hate Talking Dead, Singled Out, his lame standup duo Hard & Phirm, Web Soup, and whatever else that involves him. Matt Mira would have been the best choice. John Barrowman was the best of the Co-Hosts but he wouldn't have been able to fly back and forth filming Arrow like you mentioned and the fact that he lives in Scotland would have also posed an issue, at least I think he does. His sexuality was not an issue I don't think with the audience, even though he did overdo sometimes. He is seen as a role model for homosexuals in Europe as his Torchwood character Capt. Jack Harkness is seen as a positive spokesperson for gay individuals. Barrowman would have also probably wanted more money as well.

The truth is the internet is what killed AOTS as well as what made it successful. There are just so many Youtube channels and personalities that does what AOTS does even better than AOTS. Everybody wants to think that Candace Bailey was the reason why AOTS became so awful towards the end. That's really not true-nobody could have predicted that Olivia Munn would have become as big as she got, so really the blame should be placed on Olivia becoming such a huge egomaniac. They really should have chosen Grace Helbig over Candace though-yet Grace probably in some sort of lifetime commitment to make DailyGrace videos for the rest of her life. The other choice should have been Alison. Anyway I actually liked Candace.

It would have been nice if they had played Best Of's (compilations or full episodes) instead of the same five or eight episodes OVER AND OVER AND OVER during the runup to the Douchebag Channel's unveiling. Hope all the Suits involved in this travesty get ass cancer.
