Why Gene's mom didn't attend the wedding...

She definitely doesn't come accross as a very nice little old lady and she's always VERY cold towards Shannon. I don't know if it's that she doesn't like Shannon personally, or if she's just jealous that she's become the second woman in Gene's life. The way Gene has always portrayed his relationship with his mom, there's absolutely no way she should have missed her only child's wedding. I think that story about her health scare was a bunch of bull. I think she just couldn't accept her little boy marrying that snooty, low-class whore. I think the way she psycologically controlled Gene as he was growing up did a lot more damage to him than his dad leaving when he was a kid.

I believe it was because she was ill. She is very old and Gene even talked to her caretaker so she has somebody staying with her because she can't stay by herself anymore. If you ever spent any time around your Grandmother you know they are set in their ways and if they are ill and get scared not even dynamite can budge them. LOL.

She liked Shannon and there were pics of Shannon in the house....with Gene & the kids.

First of all, it's really stupid to call someone a moron using the grammar of an 8 year old. You look like an ignoramus.

Secondly, the way Gene's team edited it, it seemed like she wasn't coming because she was stubborn. That could easily be interpreted that she just didn't want to be there for whatever reason.

Back to the OP... I noticed when the show started, it didn't seem the kids saw their grandmother very often or were that close to her. I don't remember her ever visiting their home. Every time Gene or the family saw her, it was in New York and the kids acted like they had never been there.

Maybe she is afraid to fly, had an ear problem or doesn't like Shannon or there are other issues, but I was sad she wasn't at the wedding.

I thought Gene's mom was very frail and/or she did not like the fact that Shannon is not Jewish.
