Is the movie really that bad?

I'm shocked by the 4 rating. A 5 is acceptable.

It's incredibly boring. It follows the first film beat for beat. It's dreadful.

Is it a continuation, remake or a reboot?

reply

I opened a thread of my own with impressions. Just came from the cinema.

It's a continuation/soft reboot. If there's a sequel, it would be called "Rings 2" (or Rings:[viral/reborn/etc.]) as opposed to "The Ring 4".

reply

Not at all.. some people say it's boring, I believe they have a short attention span. I enjoyed it personally, though it was very similar to the first movie more than a few times.

reply

Well, it was bad enough it managed to kill the Friday the 13th franchise.

reply

I actually liked the film as well.

I liked it

I find it really intense, but really enjoyable as well. People usually leave a low rating on movies because it's what they think or maybe trolls. If you want to watch it you can, no one is stopping you + you don't have to listsn to the low raters though so don't worry.

What makes this film a terrible film is the fact that it tries too hard to be a mystery again after the first film. The first film was excellent and the horror mystery lore worked very well. The second film knew not to go into the mystery again so they just focused on getting rid of Samara who was stalking the main protagonist. This film uses pointless jumpscares, filled with plot holes, has a very weak script, is extremely boring and has dull and hollow characters. Seriously, if you are asking for a recommendation for this film, do yourself a favour and save your time for a much better horror movie. This film is not worth it if you like horror movies. I would only recommend it to you if you haven't seen the first film (But why wouldn't you?) and tell you to watch it when it gets released on DVD when you have absolutely nothing to do.

Or watch the Japanese franchise of Ring if you're interested in sequels or stuff like that.

I'm also shocked...No way is this a 4...closer to 6....Holds up just fine to the first two and I enjoyed it.
