Movies Out of Order

I was wondering why the Jesse Stone movies, the first two at least, were released out of order. "Night Passage" should have been the first movie, since that shows Jesse leaving Los Angeles to become police chief of Paradise. But "Night Passage" was the second movie made, released in 2006. "Stone Cold" was released first, in 2005, and in that movie Jesse is already established in Paradise, with character relationships already in place. Those relationships were created in "Night Passage".

I don't know if they weren't sure that more Jesse Stone movies would be made, and thought "Stone Cold" was a better story, but I think "Night Passage" is just as good. It strikes me as very odd that they did those two movies in reverse order.

Great point. I just sat and watched my first Jesse Stone movies. But, before I did, I saw that Night Passage was a prequel and started there first.

I've enjoyed both this and Stone Cold, but am still a bit miffed about why they filmed them out of chronilogical sequence...very good series so far.

This often happens with a series of novels, where they pick a middle novel and then go back to the earlier novel if they have a successful response.
BOHICA America!

I'm watching the Jesse Stone series for the first time. I was blaming the TV channel for showing them out of order. Strange how they've filmed them that way. Not giving the correct order to how Jesse came to Paradise.
