Okay movie, weak story though

I live in Hong Kong and I watched the movie today.
The movie is okay, I think it worths a 6.
What I like about the movie :
1. The first half of the movie is very Silent Hillish.
2. The CG effects are cool and realistic.
3. The main character is pretty.

What I hate about the movie :
1. There are 2 scenes with "Boo!"-type scares, which I hate.
2. It copies some elements of Silent Hill ( the game )
3. The story is not quite elaborated, the characters are few, flat and uninteresting. The little girl is so much braver than the main character.
4. The scene transition is a bit awkward. It seems there are no connections between scenes, e.g. the character goes into an area, being scared, then go through a tunnel, goes into another COMPLETELY different area, being scared, repeat....
5. Pretentious ending, but haven't mentioned what happen next.

My opinions on the movie...

1. Yes, there were some rather annoying "Boo"-type scares, which were a bit unoriginal (eh, I've gotten kinda used to those)
2. I haven't seen Silent Hill, but since a lot of ppl are comparing this movie to it, I guess I'll join them.
3. The scene transition is a bit awkward (and kinda repetitive), I agree, but I think it's meant to be like that, to get the meaning of the scenes somewhat connected but keep whatever she finds in the scene rather broad - I dunno, it kinda connects in some way.
4. To be honest, I don't think there's a true ending in this movie, but I'll let others decide for me...

My ideas.

Alright, I decided to watch the movie again and got a much better understanding of the story:

THOUGHTS:
1. CGI definitely is amazing.
2. The story really makes you think about real life and the main plot can really be somewhat of a wakeup call to some of us.
3. Yes, Lee Sinje is pretty, haha.
4. THAT ENDING! I'm still not sure how it ends...
5. The little girl outdos Lee in some senses, but she is definitely a great actress. With her, you have a high-caliber young character in a movie like Natalie Portman in "Leon" or Halley Jo Osmond (I can't spell, sorry) in "The Sixth Sense."
6. The story is rather bland in the beginning, but it definitely opens up into a great movie.

Overall, I was glad to see the movie again. I did jump a few times, but the movie dug deeper into my mind. You would understand if you watched it.

Whenever I notice that someone's vocabulary for expressing displeasure is limited to one word "hate", I always wonder how that person is like.

"The little girl is so much braver than the main character."

The little girl been living in that place since she's an embryo. Of course she will be less scared of the place than the main character.

I have seen 2 ending, one in cinema and one is a rip from screener i guess. so what is the ending you have seen?

reply

Whoa whoa whoa...

TWO endings???
Kagm, PLEASE PM me cuz I really wanna know which endings you saw!

reply

The scene that those zombies "scream" at her is hilarious. HAHAHAHA

Wait a second. You listed only 3 things you liked, and one was that the main character is pretty? That's a pretty weak argument in any discussion about a movie's worth isn't it?

I don't see what's so wrong about 'boo' scares. If they're in a original movie I find they work much better than in some cookie-cutter MTV horror film. They often scare the crap out of me, so maybe I'm glad that I'm not so jaded...
