What the heck?

Am I just a philistine, or do others shake their heads at the poster artwork for this film? Adimittedly, I haven't seen it, but it looks like a old Lawrence Welk show number, and its advertizing a film by the director or HIROSHIMA, MON AMOUR and LAST YEAR AT MARIANBAD. What the heck! I've never seen poster art work making a film look less interesting to me... Has Resnais gone soft in the head?

those are two great films. i would imagine it's catering to people that like them.

But my point is, people who like HIROSHIMA MON AMOUR/LAST YEAR AT MARIANBAD are NOT the type of people who would like a movie that's advertized as a cheesy musical made for my grandma....

Got your point in spades! Haven't seen the flim yet (still holding out for the much less expensive August 7, 2007, US dvd release), but the poster and the trailer come off looking like two totally different movies. The trailer is quite lyrical, even poignant. The poster looks like a silly "song and dance" routine. Definitely not a draw for the HIROSHIMA MON AMOUR, etc., crowd.
