Critics wrong again

I loved this movie. I definitely 'got it'. It's certainly a black comedy, shocking sometimes, funny, smart, clever, completely engrossing. Simon Baker (The Devil Wears Prada) is a real 'babe'; charming, handsome, with a twinkle in his eye. The script is intelligent and meaningful. Winona Ryder looks beautiful and is as good an actress as ever.

Go see it!

This movie tried too hard. And the part with the school girls was the last straw, in my opinion. Only redeeming factor is Simon Baker's face.

You guys took it too seriously. I laugh when I see people who dislike films that they don't understand. It's hilarious.

reply

And I laugh when people assume they know something about someone they couldn't pick out of a lineup!(Well, no, actually I get annoyed.) I understood it, I just didn't like it. It was hardly over my head or something, it was just not good in my opinion.

Totally agree with OP

I love this film, Simon's great in it!

reply

I agree. I was shocked to see how many critics slammed it! I thought it was charming, funny and self-deprecating. The whole film kept me completely engrossed.

Just finished watching this. It's definitely weird as hell, never quite laugh out loud funny, but it's quite charming and poignant all the same. And yes, I did like the ending.

I am a Hedro dude, so I can not be charmed by Simon Baker, actually I find his face kind of to smug, and its a little off putting. But anyway, thats just my opinion on that.

The movie its self, clearly underbudgeted, if they had given it more money, it would of done so much better.. I found the script really clever, and the characters as well interesting.. Its just the production side that let it down in my opinion.

Appart from Simon and the production, I kind of like the movie as a whole, and found it clever.. And yes, I even laughed at the school bus, I mean come on! Its meant to be absurd and rediculas! People who complain about that are way to serious!

So theres my thoughts.. I was just watching the movie, and decided to see what others thought right after seeing it. Thought I would see if others agreed.

I was stunned, like many others, that the critics really excoriated this picture. I don't get it- it was as if they'd seen a different movie than I did.
Brilliant script, very quirky and charming and oddball and DIFFERENT.

The critics were right. Probably not the worst ever movie on earth, but totally forgettable, contrived and clumsy. I wouldn't be surprised this movie lost money.
