Puts Dogville to shame

I know that both films are very different in subject matter and aim, but based strictly on similar stylistic motifs Miike's film takes the cake. Dogville, like most of Von Trier's films, offers little that sensationalism. Miike is just flat out greater filmmaker. He took inspiration from Dogville and made a film that is in every way it's superior. It's not a perfect film and is certainly not for everyone, but if you love film craft and narrative ambiguity then you will really admire this film.

Of course I'm biased in that I have absolutely no respect for Lars Von Trier but I think I can be objective in comparing the visual aesthetics of the two films because there is such a marked disparity in skill.
