Brian Regan is amazing! Next to zero swear words...I could sit through his set with my grandmother. Not to mention the entire half-hour was seamless because the guy is so good with segues.

Dane Cook is his polar opposite - really jarring subject changes and completely pointless f-bombs. Without his delivery, he's got nothing. He doesn't even really tell jokes...just stories.

I was shocked to that no one counted Larry the Cable Guy as the most overrated, but then I remembered you asked us to list comedians. Bob Zany could use a little more respect.

Overrated: Dane Cook (his best stuff was not on his special)

Underrated: Mike Birbiglia, Brian Regan (my favorite of all-time), Tom Cotter, Jim Gaffigan

I actually loved Dane Cook's CCP special. I have had the interest to watch or hear him elsewhere, but he makes me laugh every time I see his special. I'd say overall he's overrated.

Getting away from your original post, I just want to go out on a limb and say that Demetri Martin sucks.
And after re-listening to some of the stuff Dane Cook has put out (aka everything after "Harmful If Swallowed") I don't mind him too much anymore. His bit about "15 Cents" was hilarious.

Overrated: Demetri Martin (blows hard), Dane Cook (still, although he is funny)
Underrated: Jim Gaffigan (hopefully his new cd is about more than food though), Daniel Tosh
