Did anyone else see Penelope's character ...

... as a " mother figure " ?

The girl is nuts for sure , but There's just something about Maria Elena ... I'm not sure Its the way she pulls Javier's hair when she's talking to him in tears , or how she knows his habits or Scarlet's needs ... how she convinces her to stay or how she controls everyone's Choices and fate (like her final appearance) people know *beep* just got real when she's angry (unlike ANYONE else in the movie who keep their feelings and actions totally secret and live guilty) Maria is the kind of character that you want to be friends with . She's got your back . But if you wanna leave her , you will have her anger .

Idk maybe it's just me but she is definitely more than just an ex who has come back . Very interesting character. My favorite Allen character right behind Annie Hall.
