The Straun House aka 'Dr. Rage'

This is another film starring Andrew Divoff as a mad doctor experimenting with rage. Sadly, the film is terrible with stilted dialogue, crappy sets, and -- aside from the last five minutes, which include the only gore in the movie -- deplorable special effects. The one sex scene in the film is great, seeing as how the girl in it is as hot as she is, but that and the last five minutes are the only reasons to watch the movie.

The reason I'm saying all this is that I think -- hope, actually -- that this will be a much better version of what that movie was trying to accomplish. There were no mutants in the Straun House (no rage-afflicted ones, anyway), but aside from that this sounds very similar and will hopefully be better.

Your thoughts?

There has been some confusion as to which movie I am referring to in the previous comment. I am not bashing this movie. I have never seen "The Rage," and won't give an opinion until I do. Actually I'm looking forward to it, because it sounds decent and Erin Brown is on board

The movie I was talking about goes by two names, Dr. Rage and The Straun House. It files under two main categories: One is "claims to be a true story with no evidence to back it up," and the other is "sweet looking haunted victorian house painted on the box never appears in the damn movie." It is this movie I was bashing, and I was only stating that The Rage sounds as if it's trying to succeed where The Straun House failed. For the record I hope it does. The Straun House shows a creepy victorian mansion on the box and is about a mad doctor experimenting on a hapless patient, and COULD have been great. But virtually the entire movie appears to have been filmed in an abandoned warehouse in LA, and the actors are about as motivated as a high school drama club. But that's enough said about that movie for now. For more info, visit the movie's IMDb page here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0357848/

Thank you!

I have seen both these movies your talking about. The Straun House aka Dr. Rage totally sucks, and The Rage is hundred times better. Both movies did have one thing in common Divoff was playing a mad doctor in both. I liked the look of the box for Dr. Rage and the dvd, as well as the menu, but the movie total let down thought it would have been better. When my grandpa use to walk with 2 canes he could out walk Divoff's character any day and he's in his 80's and has a bad knee. I heard about this movie from a few buddy's of mine and wanted to see how bad it was, and I bought the movie for a penny with 2 bucks shipping, it lived up to is badness. As far as the Rage movie it wasn't to bad true the acting was a little bad but come on it had the making of a 80's horror movie. Everything from the running through the woods, mad doctor, killer freaks, lots of fake/cg blood:(, even down to the making out here and there, totally 80's flick just made know of days though. I liked it since it was different and I grew tired of the Saw movies and Hostel as well, always good to see something fresh out there any day.

I always cheer for the bad guy!

Well, I've never seen the movie in question, but I can tell you THE RAGE is nothing like that. I have seen it and it's just a fun, intentionally insane crazy-fun movie. Listen to the commentary, watch the behind the scenes and enjoy it for the drive in flick it is!
