Actual Events

In the trailer it says this movie is based off real events......anyone got a clue what they are talking about?

Maybe Ohio State Reformatory, it has a reputation of being haunted anyway.

Actually it says it was inspired by real events, not based on real events. There is a difference. This movie probably does not even resemble what really happened. I would love to know myself.

Last Movie: Watchmen
Fav. Movies last year: The Dark Knight

I'm not saying I know what the "real events" were, but they were probably something like this (about Old Tennessee State Prison):

In 1902, seventeen prisoners blew out the end of one wing of the prison, killing one inmate and allowing the escape of two others who were never recaptured.

at the beginning of the movie it ran through newspaper clips of "real" events also. So it could have been the writer of the movie was "inspired" by the mystery of Ronake (sp) and some of the other events.

From the newspaper "articles" at the beginning, it sounds like a compilation of several places. Ohio, Tennessee, and Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia, plus a few others I've read about but forget the names of right now. The Roanoke angle was an odd addition.

All wrong; its based on my church.

This movie reminds me of the "West Virginia State Penitentiary" where people were killed in the boiler room. (ghost adventures, ghost hunters episodes)

"One of the more notable ones is the butchering of R.D. Wall, inmate number 44670. On October 8, 1929, after "snitching" on his fellow inmates, he was attacked by three prisoners with dull shivs while heading to the boiler room." - from Wikipedia.

Has anyone seen this on one of those shows or heard of this too? What do you think? I am curious.
