Could there BE two actors more PASSED OVER by The Industry??!

WHADDUP with these guys' careers? WHY didn't the Benevolent Gods of Hollywood allow these two people to give us their ACTING in more high-profile projects???

Eric Roberts: BAM-BAM-BAM! I fell in love with him from the FIRST MOMENT I saw him in "King of the Gypsies" as a kid in high school! And then he did the eerie portrayal of absolutely mentally deranged Paul Snider in "Star 80." And THEN the Pope of Greenwich Village! A Hat Trick of films! MAN,...I was SURE that this guy was gonna be on the star track of becoming what Tom Cruise or Tom Hanks would become today! But alas -- "something" went wrong for him... IDEAS, anyone? And now? WoW! OMG! He's aging EXTREMELY NICE! Woah! Wild how a "craggy face" can be so HOT looking! Now...I had heard that while his daughter, Emma (also taking up acting), is "tight" with Auntie Julia...Eric and his baby sis are NOT on very good terms -- AT ALL. Hmmm... so...this has made me wonder if Julia has been influential in her brother's career suffering a wobbly and limping path. He's in soooooo many "B" flick and straight-to-video stuff. (sigh) Or perhaps the RAWNESS of his Paul Snider portrayal...and SO CLOSE to the murder of Dorothy Stratton...And as other posts here attest: THE DUDE CAN ACT and we DIG SEEING HIS FACE on the screen!

Anne Heche: I had seen her in the steamy "Wild Side" -- a rather tedious film noir...but her acting was so "believable". And then in the goofy "Return to Paradise" she did a 180 and a great job of being "neurotic." OK, so she had an episode in her life when she thought she'd be a lesbian (no big NOW, but a little socially revolutionary ten years ago). And then there's that incident of turning-up a hitch-hiking psycho "lost" in the California desert after suffering a mental breakdown. Hmmm. Not much help to her Box Office potential. But SERIOUSLY, I always thought this chick could ACT! Kick-butt ACT GREAT! She just made some perhaps ill-timed and certainly high profile decision in her personal life. Did this kinda derail her shooting-star trajectory?

So...when I saw these two hooking-up in this TV flick on Lifetime, I thought, "woah -- that's gonna be a VERY GOOD film just from the ACTING standpoint!" And I - You - Most all here ... agreed. Eric did GREAT as a wrecked man. Anne was GREAT as the camelion and hard-hearted player/byatch. These two really developed their characters. So "natural" Would LOVE to know how they were actually behaving toward eachother "off-screen," because this pairing of actors ON-screen was--terrific! The script is so-so...but these two guys MAKE the movie with their acting. Two lesser actors would have reduced it to a hack piece of tripe. Yes...COULD have been a theatrical release -- if it weren't for the fact that these two are..."box office persona non grata." Truly tragic.

Thanks for letting me express my enthusiasm for these actors...
I wanna own a DVD of it...just for the ACTING talent.

There chemisty was "sizzling". It was a hot movie! The movie captured my interest from the very beginning. You are right the acting was spectacular! They both did a wonderful job in their roles!
This is definately my all time favirite movie on Lifetime so far.

HOw came when some actors have personal problems they are lauded and given more roles, but others (like these two) get shunned? They are both great actors! I loved her in Wag the Dog and he has been great in everything I have seen

nice socks, man.....

Heche is a great actress, but the way she treated Ellen Degeneres after the much publisized breakup which included writing a book that basically said "when I was with ellen I was crazy" left a really bad mouth in a lot of people's mouths.

I think even people who are homophobes sorta went "what a crappy thing to do," and the reason she doesn't get much work any more is because studios are afraid her name is poison for a film.

Roberts is just choosy about his roles and I think didn't want to do the whole "hollywood star" bit, even though he no doubt would have been one.

Thank you for saying that. I have never watched anything Heche was in after that despicable thing she did to Ellen Degeneres. Yes, she is talented; but, when I see her face I become really angry and change the channel. To this day! (Mebbe I should get over myself.)

Akshulllly.... I have also held a grudge against her all these years and to be perfectly honest, I was never much of an 'Ellen' fan until that whole bruhaha! Funnily enough, afterwards I started paying more attention to Ellen's comedy and her show and while it's not 'must see tv,' I do find her very very likeable and watch her show when I can. I am, and have been a gay rights proponent for long before the book, which is probably why it made me so angry (living in Fort Lauderdale FL will either make you one or send you screaming for a Tea Party State, ha ha ha).

But I likewise turn the TV when I see Heche on a show - I just never 'got over it.' I thought it was a despicable thing to do.

What exactly did she DO or say about Ellen at that time? I remember they were together for a time and that afterward she did an about face, married a guy and had a baby. Whatever she did to Ellen must have been pretty bad that so many people on this board turn the channel if she is on.

I strongly agree with you on Eric Roberts.... Anne Heche does get work in my opinion.

Eric Roberts and Michael Madsen two overlooked actors who are always typecasted as Thugs and Villains.....

Madsen is getting better roles... I hope the same follows for Eric Roberts

Anne is amazing. Compare her comedic talent in say 'Wag the Dog' or 'Six Days Seven Nights' to her dramatic capabilities in say 'Return to Paradise' and 'Birth'... She's just incredible, so truthful with her acting!

I can't believe Return to Paradise was shunned of 3 Oscar Noms for Vaughn, Heche and Phoenix, they're all just incredible!

I also think that Anne Heche is one of the most underrated actresses in the world. She is so talented and gorgeous. Maybe she will have her breakthrough one day...fingers crossed.

I'd love to see Eric Roberts in a Tarantino movie.

I have to agree with you on all counts.

First time I saw Roberts was in "Pope of Greenwich Village" and thought he added a wacky edge to the part. Went out and bought the film and watch it about once a year just to see him pull some of his screwy crap.

Can't remember when I first saw Anne's work, but again, an intensity about the person drew you in. Somebody on another post said he could watch her just sit in a chair watching paint dry and be enraptured. I feel the same way.

Good call on your part.

Eric Roberts did a recent interview about his 'lost years'. He had addiction problems that led to anger issues with producers/directors. So no one offered him roles. He claims to be clean now and is very interested in acting. I imagine his sis split from him for various reasons.
