Could there BE two actors more PASSED OVER by The Industry??!
WHADDUP with these guys' careers? WHY didn't the Benevolent Gods of Hollywood allow these two people to give us their ACTING in more high-profile projects???
Eric Roberts: BAM-BAM-BAM! I fell in love with him from the FIRST MOMENT I saw him in "King of the Gypsies" as a kid in high school! And then he did the eerie portrayal of absolutely mentally deranged Paul Snider in "Star 80." And THEN the Pope of Greenwich Village! A Hat Trick of films! MAN,...I was SURE that this guy was gonna be on the star track of becoming what Tom Cruise or Tom Hanks would become today! But alas -- "something" went wrong for him... IDEAS, anyone? And now? WoW! OMG! He's aging EXTREMELY NICE! Woah! Wild how a "craggy face" can be so HOT looking! Now...I had heard that while his daughter, Emma (also taking up acting), is "tight" with Auntie Julia...Eric and his baby sis are NOT on very good terms -- AT ALL. Hmmm... so...this has made me wonder if Julia has been influential in her brother's career suffering a wobbly and limping path. He's in soooooo many "B" flick and straight-to-video stuff. (sigh) Or perhaps the RAWNESS of his Paul Snider portrayal...and SO CLOSE to the murder of Dorothy Stratton...And as other posts here attest: THE DUDE CAN ACT and we DIG SEEING HIS FACE on the screen!
Anne Heche: I had seen her in the steamy "Wild Side" -- a rather tedious film noir...but her acting was so "believable". And then in the goofy "Return to Paradise" she did a 180 and a great job of being "neurotic." OK, so she had an episode in her life when she thought she'd be a lesbian (no big NOW, but a little socially revolutionary ten years ago). And then there's that incident of turning-up a hitch-hiking psycho "lost" in the California desert after suffering a mental breakdown. Hmmm. Not much help to her Box Office potential. But SERIOUSLY, I always thought this chick could ACT! Kick-butt ACT GREAT! She just made some perhaps ill-timed and certainly high profile decision in her personal life. Did this kinda derail her shooting-star trajectory?
So...when I saw these two hooking-up in this TV flick on Lifetime, I thought, "woah -- that's gonna be a VERY GOOD film just from the ACTING standpoint!" And I - You - Most all here ... agreed. Eric did GREAT as a wrecked man. Anne was GREAT as the camelion and hard-hearted player/byatch. These two really developed their characters. So "natural" Would LOVE to know how they were actually behaving toward eachother "off-screen," because this pairing of actors ON-screen was--terrific! The script is so-so...but these two guys MAKE the movie with their acting. Two lesser actors would have reduced it to a hack piece of tripe. Yes...COULD have been a theatrical release -- if it weren't for the fact that these two are..."box office persona non grata." Truly tragic.
Thanks for letting me express my enthusiasm for these actors...
I wanna own a DVD of it...just for the ACTING talent.
